The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) Announces the Launch of RASID

On June 1, 2021, SASO held a workshop to introduce the new integrated work system called RASID. RASID was developed as a monitoring and rapid alert center for unsafe products in Saudi Arabia. Please visit www.rasid.saso.gov.sa for more information.

RASID's mission:

  • Monitor and collect information about non-medical and non-nutritional incidents.
  • Analyze the incoming products incidents and study them in order to submit a recommenation about them.
  • Early alerts about product incidents.
  • Spread awareness among consumers.

The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) Issues an Update Regarding Importer Product Declaration for Non-Medical Face Masks

In March 2021, SASO issued a notification that required all shipment certification requests for Non-Medical Face Masks (HS Codes 481890000002, 481890009999, and 630790970002) to include an Importer Product Declaration form. SASO has now provided an updated form which includes an email address that can be used to submit the form to the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources for approval. Once approved, CBs are instructed to collect this document and shall not issue the Shipment Certificate of Conformity (SCoC) for Non-Medical Face Masks until it is received.

The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) Publishes Updated List of Standards

On May 28, 2021, SASO published a list of new, adopted and updated standards in the Um El Qura newspaper.

The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) Released a New Technical Regulation for Machinery Safety Part 2: Mobile Machinery and Heavy Works Equipment

On May 21, 2021, SASO released the new Technical Regulation for Machinery Safety Part 2: Mobile Machinery and Heavy Works Equipment in the Official Gazette.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Ministry of Commerce Issues a Recall for IKEA Heroisk-Talrika Cups and Plates

On May 18, 2021, the KSA Ministry of Commerce issued a recall for IKEA Heroisk-Talrika Cups and Plates due to the possibility of breakage when used with hot contents, which could lead to burns. Consumers are encouraged to immediately stop using the product and to contact the company for return and refund.
